About

I'm a junior at Rhodes College studying computer science, with minors in mathematics and economics. Most of what I do is machine learning research: a latent-space world model built into the LIDA cognitive architecture, an empirical study of when synthetic tabular data can be trusted, and a paper on the combinatorial game Corners.

I care about the questions underneath the models: what structure a learning system actually needs, how to tell when a result is real, and when an agent should stop reacting and start planning. This site collects the work and the thinking behind it.

Undergraduate Research Assistant

Feb 2025 to Present

Department of Computer Science, Rhodes College

Built a latent-space world model (beta-VAE encoder with GRU dynamics) in PyTorch in the JEPA tradition, improving next-state latent prediction by 18% over 50k+ simulated transitions. Integrated a DreamerV3-style predictive agent with LIDA across 4 action spaces, cutting planning latency by 25%. Co-authoring the manuscript. Separately, built an evaluation suite benchmarking copula, VAE, and GAN synthetic data generators across 6 statistical metrics.

Machine Learning Engineer Intern

Jun 2026 to Aug 2026

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

Trained 5-fold nnU-Net, Swin-UNETR, and Mamba segmentation workflows on SLURM-managed HPC clusters, and wrote a custom PyTorch decoder for an 847M-parameter 3D CT foundation model. Built a de-identification pipeline with a locally served LLM (vLLM) to assemble a model-ready set of 1,100+ CT scans, and automated cohort search across 750+ exams by calling backend endpoints directly, an 18x speedup.

Full Stack Developer Intern

May 2025 to Aug 2025

Rhodes College Summer Research Fellowship

Built a research platform for 12 combinatorial games on integer partitions with real-time multiplayer for 50+ concurrent sessions. PostgreSQL schemas, Node.js/Express REST APIs with JWT auth, 30+ automated tests at 95% coverage under GitHub Actions. Worked with faculty in an Agile/Scrum team.
